SkinCeuticals is going all out this year with their biggest investment and presence so far. There’s going to be loads of exciting things happening, and a lot of things going on at the stand. So I do encourage everyone to pop by. We’ve got some live demos and some actual treatments by the stand. One of them is a MicroPeel, I myself am demoing on both days part of what I’ll be talking about in the symposium which is an integrated treatment of the Skinceuticals GL gel peel and microneedling. The educational team is also going to share some consultation and skin scopes skills, so there’s loads of practical things going on. So make sure to visit the stand
It is all about what SkinCeuticals and what my ethos is about, which is integrated skincare. This is the value and importance of integrating medical grade skincare, by the way of pre-procedure pairing procedure and post procedure. I’m actually presenting a case that I showcased in Paris recently for IMCAS which was a demonstration of how to perform medical grade skincare combined with the Skinceuticals GL peel and Microneedling protocol with post-procedure CE ferulic, which is an antioxidant serum and then combining that with light handed injectables. This is by the way of for instance baby toxin and dermal fillers, with post procedure HA intensifier which is a hyaluronic acid serum with a great result from just one session.
I will be also talking about the business benefits of why practitioners really needs to be focusing on skin quality and skin assessments for all of their injectables cases. So, I’m really looking forward to sharing my approach
I personally found that I fell in the trap early on in my career of focusing too much on injectables alone because it was quite a daunting area. There are so many training needs and it’s quite overwhelming. So I neglected the importance of medical grade skincare until I was forced to learn about it when I joined a multi-speciality Plastic Surgery Centre in Birmingham, due to the skin condition and skincare being such a big part of the pre-operative prep for procedures such as blepharoplasties and facelifts. By the time I realised this, I was perhaps four years into my career and the knowledge gap between my injectables skills and my cosmetic dermatology skills was vast and then I had to play catch up. So I’m now trying to share this with the next group of aesthetic doctors coming into the industry to let them know the importance of focusing on this from day one. There’s loads of free of charge training to utilise this from brands like SkinCeuticals which have been amazing including their online academy. This was a game changer for me in order to learn and implement this knowledge from day one to then be able to take a small step back from injectables to establish a niche of undetectable light handed combination procedures utilising tasteful injectables because I was getting such amazing results from integrating skincare into my treatment plan. I’ve now managers to establish that as a niche within my community and my clientele. Therefore from a business point of view it’s been unmatched, putting myself apart from the competition in the West Midlands with everything just taking off from there.
I think so. So practitioners are just missing out so much part of the industry. It’s understandable, especially because injectables is the natural first step into the industry and it’s fairly low investment. If you’re an independent practitioner, it’s difficult to then go and invest all of a sudden in devices or expensive gear. But actually skincare isn’t any of those. You don’t have to have a huge investment. If you’ve got somewhere that your base a small amount of products and it will get you going because it works so synergistically with your injectables. It will takes some weight off your shoulders as an injector because you can rely on the skincare doing half of the job and you get a better clinical outcome. I really do believe it’s the only way for Clinical Excellence, holistic care and comprehensive care within our industry. It’s a no brainer, but it’s just about finding the confidence and putting the time in and finding the channels to learn about it and then be able to implement it.
It’s been hugely beneficial. My patients are definitely noticing the skin benefits, the glow, the radiance and also over the years because I have improved my patient retention of having patients follow me it’s almost like a lifetime journey. It just gets better over time. What I personally found from a business point of view, not only in terms of clinical excellence and outcomes, it’s been unmatched because my patients are really private and they would never recommend someone to come and see me and own up to the fact that they had injectables. But the fact that they’ve had such a great experience with the skincare and people are noticing their skin is diffusely looking great. They now feel confident and comfortable to recommend friends and family to come and see me for skincare so they’re not necessarily mentioning that they’ve had an injections which is fine, because the skincare is probably done the bigger part of the job anyway, Therefore, it’s just completely escalated my revenue but also my reputation within my community so they all love it. I would never look back.
Well, if you haven’t registered definitely should. It is probably my favourite conference of the industry. It’s so fun, it’s a big event and all of your colleagues will be attending. So from a networking point of view, it’s actually really enjoyable and beneficial, especially once you start connecting with different brands that you believe in and align with. The collaboration opportunities and networking alone and it’s so enjoyable. But then in terms of a clinical point of view, it is really essential in terms of keeping up to date with the latest advancements, but also keeping up to date with the brands that you’re working with to see what their newest guidelines and what the newest science is bringing to the table so definitely worthwhile.
